The Tender Harvest: An Autumn Retreat
with Shawn Parell & Erin Doerwald

join us

Immerse yourself in the golden splendor of autumn at Ballymaloe House, a historic country estate nestled in the lush Irish countryside.

Harvest is an invitation to celebrate this season of brilliance and bounty, to awaken and nourish your body, heart, mind, and spirit.

Set amidst the rolling fields and coastal cliffs of County Cork, Ballymaloe offers the perfect sanctuary for renewal. Mornings will open with yoga and meditation in the gentle light of autumn. Afternoons will invite perfectly curated field trips, including an idyllic cliff walk, traditional coastal spas, famous Blarney Castle, and more — and also invite spaciousness to explore the estate’s gardens, walk nearby trails, or simply rest and revel in the beauty of Ireland’s lush, verdant landscapes.

Each day, we’ll enjoy world-class organic meals crafted from the estate’s gardens and local farms, a true celebration of Ireland’s culinary heritage and the season’s harvest. Evenings will round out with restorative and reflective practices, inviting deep integration as the day fades.

The crisp air, golden foliage, and quiet magic of Ballymaloe in autumn offer an unparalleled sensory experience. Gift yourself or someone you love this sacred time to connect deeply with a community of spirit, the earth, and the transformative energy of this threshold season.

Family owned and run, tucked into the quiet Cork countryside, Ballymaloe House will be our home for 7 lovely days and 6 nights.

retreat setting

Condé Nast Traveller Magazine has acknowledged Ballymaloe House on their Gold List, and it was the only Irish venue on this prestigious list of the World’s Top 100 Hotels. The McKenna Guide 2018 listed Ballymaloe House as one of Ireland’s 100 Best Restaurants, in 2021 they were awarded 2 Gold Medal awards from the prestigious Hotel & Catering Review, and most recently, they were awarded the 2023 Best Sustainable Business Innovation award from the Cork Business Association.

All accommodations have a calm and relaxing feel. There are paintings and drawings by Irish modern artists such as Pat Scott, Michael Farrell, Louis Le Brocquy and Norah McGuinness throughout the house, as well as examples of Irish studio pottery.

Enjoy afternoon tea in the drawing room by the fire or in the conservatory, which is filled with scented geraniums and winter jasmine and overlooks our gardens and river. The gardens are dotted with benches, where you can sit and read or listen to the sounds of the farm. During your visit, the drawing room will be warm and peaceful—the perfect place to relax after a long walk by the sea and look out at the wild Irish sky.

Accommodation at Ballymaloe House is simple and elegant. Each room has a private bathroom (most with bathtubs!), where you can enjoy a nice soak with fresh bath salts.

Yoga classes will be onsite at the “Grainstore,” which was originally built in the 17th century, and converted to host groups and events. Many of our meals will be catered for us here at the Grainstore, and we’ve been invited to a special dinner at Ballymaloe House.

This unique retreat will open your eyes to many of the splendors of Ireland and is perfect for single travelers, couples, culinary enthusiasts and you!

During our week, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the grounds of Ballymaloe, a picnic on the Ballycotton cliffs, and a day trip to Blarney castle (with a special dinner out at a surprise restaurant).
