Many of us sense the benefits of mindfulness in our lives — walking alone in the woods, in moments of wonder, in listening quietly to a friend — but when it comes to seated meditation, we either don’t know where to start or struggle to commit to a regular practice. 

Maybe you’ve dabbled with the guidance of a meditation app or book and now you’re ready to develop personal agency in your practice. Or maybe – like many of us – you’re simply struggling with the overwhelm of life and you’re open to anything that might help.

Everyone is welcome to this introductory course.

In a progressive, 6-week sequence, we'll provide the interdisciplinary framework, skills, and community context for each participant to establish and nurture the foundations of a regular seated practice. Together, we will –

Develop a collective field of practice through guided and silent sits

Introduce classical definitions to explore our own understanding of mindfulness

Learn scientific, philosophical, and practical aspects of mindfulness meditation

Introduce the four pillars of mindfulness practice from a contemplative spiritual perspective

Identify or renew our intentions for practice and build a sustainable rhythm of home practice between sessions

Study the power of applied mindfulness for navigating a traumatized world

Provide support and strategies through weekly Q&A and group discussions
