My heart holds within it every form,
it contains a pasture for gazelles,
a monastary for Christian monks.
There is a temple for idol-worshippers,
A holy shrine for pilgrims;
There is the table of the Torah,
and the book of the Koran.
~ Ibn Arabi, 12th century
Seva, the Sanskrit term for selfless service or sacred activism, is an integral part of any holistic yoga practice.
Since 2008, Shawn has served a core catalyst for Anahata International, a nonprofit organization committed to sharing the health benefits of yoga and holistic wellness services with individuals in need. Anahata International has worked domestically and internationally to initiate and support the development of sustainable yoga and wellness programs for populations affected by conflict and trauma. Believing in the transformative power of yoga to promote healing and social change, this team of global teachers and activists offers teacher trainings and sustainable wellness programs in vulnerable communities around the world.
Anahata International’s work launched with a project in Rwanda facilitated by founder Angela Cerkevich. Over the years, Anahata’s impact has grown in both scope and sustainability. Shawn and team continue regular trips to the West Bank to offer a women’s trauma-sensitive teacher training, empowering leaders to create enduring wellness opportunities for traumatized individuals and communities.
Anahata International is a 100% donation-based organization. You can learn more, find ways to get involved, or make a donation by visiting www.anahatainternational.org.
Once you know the way, the nature of attention will call you
to return, again and again, and be saturated with knowing,
'I belong here, I am at home here.' Answer that call.
